All about our month with Time 4 Learning.
We were given a free trial from this learning website in exchange for a review of our experience afterward.  Let me tell you it was a great month!  I registered my three daughters (K, 3rd & 5th) and we planned to use this as a supplement.  By week two the girls enjoyed the lessons so much they were asking if they could do them instead of their other work. My 5th grader enjoyed the planner feature; I would tell her what lessons to do & she could do them at her own pace with breaks scheduled in at intervals so she could practice a bit of independence.  The only issue she had with the program was that she could not pause the directions when she needed but she was always able to click a repeat button so she eventually understood the lessons.  My 3rd grader is advanced in math & one of the nice features of this site is the ability  to select one lever higher or lower for your student as you the parent see fit.  This worked great in keeping her challenged.  She is a very focused gal so she really appreciated the timer in the right hand corner of the screen allowing her to see how long she had been at a lesson...and how long until a break.  That spared me hearing the old "how much longer till I get a break?".  She also enjoyed the Playground.  My Kindergarten daughter absolutely LOVED this curriculum and begged to do it daily. She had a lighter load of lessons as the curriculum did not cover social studies-nor did it have much science, but there was a heavy emphasis on reading & Language arts which I felt was where her attention belonged at this stage. She enjoyed the videos and the reading almost as much as the playground. I really liked the easy planning (it's all laid out for the parent) and the easy tracking.  You can see what your child covered and how they scored on lessons/tests with the click of an icon on their homepage. I did not like how you can not go back & have the child retest to raise a low grade, though.  I wish that were different. That small issue aside, I would say that this was an all around win for our family.  When the trial was up there were sighs of disappointment from all three girls.  So then I looked into the monthly fee.
Time4Learning membership is $19.95/month for the first child and $14.95/month for each additional child.  That came out to about $50.00/month for all three girls x 10 months = $500.00 for our school year. That is much less than other all inclusive curriculum out there which can several hundred PER STUDENT & not even include the automatic grading or built in planning.  We have decided that we are going to use this program to heavily supplement our lessons.  I did decide to stick with our current history program as it has a Christian focus which was not part of Time 4 Learning, but that is fine...I did not see other religious preferences either so I feel the site is neutral in that area.  I would recommend this to any of you who are looking for a different approach this upcoming year.  It would be a great supplement too if you are not wanting to give up on your other curriculum all together.  Go check out their site at : https://www.time4learning.com/index.htm

I've been invited to try Time4Learning for one month in exchange for a candid review. My opinion will be entirely my own, so be sure to come back and read about my experience. Time4Learning is an online educational program that can be used in many ways including as a homeschooling curriculum or afterschool tutorial. Find out how to write your own curriculum review for Time4Learning.

Thank You,
Me & my three

Anna resumed her riding lessons today. Her older sisters will join her in the summer when school is out. Here are some fun pictures of her. Compare to 6/2009 to see how she has grown. WOW

Graduation from Nursing School

It is official....sort of. We walked the stage and we were confirmed graduates, but the clinical hours will not end until December. Strange, but this is how they do it. So I walked up and got my diploma case and inside the note said "congratulations on your accomplishment, but you didn't make it yet" The sad thing is that two people who walked the stage are failing Medical Surgical rotation in clinicals....so they may not make it to December.

a wrench in our plans @#$%$#%^

Well the good news is that Rachael is in her last trimester of nursing school. The bad news is that Sam's step mom and his dad are now (suddenly) parenting 4 of their grandkids indefinately.....that means amoung other things that there will be no more child care for our tot and Sam will stay home with her.
The schedule goes like this:

Rachael gets up @ 5:00 and gets the older 2 girls ready and they all go to school @ 7:00
Anna stays home with Sam (he does not wake up 'till later (see below to know why)
Rachael and the older 2 return home @ 3:00 - Sam leaves @ 3:15 for work
Rachael feeds and bathes and gets the kids to bed 8:00 (usually)
Rachael studies and then goes to bed around 11:00 or 12:00
Sam gets home 12:00 to 2:00am (depending on how far away he is working)
REPEAT
If it is a weekend...Sam goes in 7-9 am and works 'till 9-10 pm

It has been this way for a few weeks now and ....well.....the more days we get through, the closer we are to the end of school " Come on December!!!"
I have my low opinions of this arrangement and no one likes it- but griping wont help
Prayer would be appreciated----always.

Happy Birthday

This is our little lady..who goes around saying " I'm three now and I don't nurse anymore".

This was her request; white cake with marshmallows and candles.
So we had miniature angel food cakes with whipped topping, strawberries, and mini marshmallows. The candles were pink, of course. Even her shirt was for the occasion: My Little Pony logo with a cake and BIRTHDAY GIRL written across the front. She was very excited.
