On August 14th we officially started school. That is, on this date we began to keep records for the county and state ( we have been teaching them since birth). The girls are enjoying their lessons and learning fast.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday we school at home in reading, writing, history, math and home economics. On Thursdays we go to a local co-op where the girls study music, more reading and history, and art class. They get to be in classes with children ages 5-14 and they have a group lunchtime. In the afternoons they have P.E. as well.
They are always looking forward to Thursdays or " CO-OP Days" as they call them. Rachael gets to spend the day meeting with other homeschooling parents ( 90% are moms) and there is a text book swap with great resources.
Amber is reading better with each day. The A Beka curriculum has worked well and the wewbsite starfall.com has been a great encouragement to Amber. As she reads the work she gets to play games on this site. Things are settling into a quasi-routine. This will all be subject to change when the baby arrives, and there will be a new class on the list: baby care 101 for older siblings. ( HA HA ). The best part has been the girl's enjoyment of school. They are asking to do their copy-work and math!
