We have returned!!

Many months have passed since we last had Internet. This is why we have not posted in so long. But now that we are back, let us bring you up to date:
We are still in Tennessee and still homeschooling. The girls are all learning fast.
Anna still does not talk, but she sure does have a language of her own. We have nick-named her our foreign exchange student because she babbles in such an earnest manner that it seems she is speaking in a foreign language.
There have been many changes in our family:
Last fall we learned that Amber has some form of
high functioning Autism. They think it is Aspegrer's Syndrome- but we are waiting to see a specialist at Vanderbilt University for a
definitive diagnosis. Since January, we have driven 1 hour away every week for Occupational therapy & visual therapy. This has become a routine by now and it is helping. We always knew there was something highly unique about how she saw the world. Now we have some understanding and we have been learning how to help her understand the confusing world around her.
Abigail began speech therapy in the fall for a slight speech impediment. She, too, has been going every week and progressing well. She still has hearing trouble, though, so we will be seeing a specialist in the next month to have a hearing test.
Sam and I are healthy and well. Having a better understanding of what is causing our girl's unusual struggles has made things easier (a little) for us. We have changed the way we look at things around here, our approach to discipline & the method of homeschooling.
Sam's work is going well and he is enjoying it very much. God has blessed him with work despite the economic changes.
Due to the many visits to therapists and specialists, I have had to take a leave of absence from volunteering at the pregnancy center.
We are thankful to God that we have each other-and our home. We were unaffected by the tornadoes that hit Tennessee these past few months. But we see the damage others suffered every week on our drive to therapy. We are very fortunate.
