From a piece of wood to a work of art

This all started as a commission in a few LARGE logs of pine. Over a few weeks Sam hand carved the logs and stained the wood to become a mantle of massive proportions.

This was made of three logs each weighing over 100 pounds. They were individually carved an then transported to the client's home. Once there, Sam secured the three pieces and then stained the wood to match the colors of the home.
And here are the photos of the finished mantle. It is over 6 feet tall and about 6 feet wide.
The design was chosen by the client. Sam listened to her ideas, drew a picture that she liked, and then he carved it into the wood. She could not say enough about how much she LOVED Sam's work. He has one very satisfied client. And now he has gained another mantle commission!! More details to come.
