At church with Daddy
We had a fun Easter. This was Anna's first and she spent the day laughing and watching the excitement around her. Rachael prepared her first Easter feast for the family; Ham with a home made Apricot glaze, Sweet potatoes, Green bean casserole (it had to be made from scratch) no canned cream soup, Strawberry Feta salad and
a jello ring with homemade whipped cream.
Yes we make everything from scratch- but we have to for the sake of the girls' food allergies. This was a big ordeal for us and it turned out fabulous. Rachael made construction paper Lilies for the table center piece.
On Easter morning we visited Tennessee Valley Community Church and we heard a thought provoking sermon. The theme was " reality Living" a spoof on reality TV shows. Pastor MC Hammer of Tracy, CA ( yes the former singer) presented part of the topic and elaborated on how God IS there for you all the time....even if you do not think you FEEL him there. The main pastor then spoke on the reason we celebrate Easter and he shared the Victory Jesus had over death. This was also a great sermon. We discussed this sermon for a while afterwards. Too bad you have to leave your kids at a facility over 1 mile away for Sunday School. We might consider this church otherwise. As it was we kept all three girls with us in the service and they were great. Anna napped and the other two colored pages about the resurrection that Rachael had printed up for them.
In the afternoon, after we had our Easter meal, the girls hunted Easter Eggs. It was so cold outside (in the 30s) that we hid the eggs indoors and still had a great deal of fun. They were plastic ones that were empty inside "like the empty tomb that is key to the celebration". The day was a festive one and we were thankful for Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross. Which was the most talked about thought of the day.
As for the baskets if candy, we had gone to the health food store beforehand and bought Food-dye free candy and fruit leathers. There was only a small bit of candy in the baskets, but the girls did not know any better, so it was great.
