Sam is in the Catfish Fry Parade....Amber tried to be,too!

The Band's big concert is in 2 weeks and Sam has worked hard to get the word out. There is one thing about Sam- he does not care for parades. God does have a sense of humor. This morning Sam walked over 3 miles in the largest parade in West Tennessee. This is one of the biggest events of the year for half of Tennessee. Thousands of people come form all directions and even from neighboring states to participate or just watch the excitement.

The World's Largest Fish Fry is in Paris this weekend with over 20 marching bands, 30 or more pageant queens and many floats, cars, and horses, etc. The Krider Preforming Arts Center (KPAC) had a float and, as Sam has rented the place for his " Summer Jam", they asked him to accompany the float. Sam got to hand out about 500 flyers he walked the route. There was also some radio coverage about The Sam Knowles Band having a Summer Jam May 12th on the major radio station that reaches to Nashville, TN.
The girls and Rachael went 2 hours early to get a good spot and show their support. They had never been to a parade with "floaters" as Amber kept calling them. They loved it and watched all 2 1/2 hours of the parade from the sidewalk. As soon as Amber learned about marching bands she was quite interested in joining one. She was disappointed when she learned that she would have to wait until at least middle school. But she cheered up when mom bought her a plastic trumpet ( from a wandering vendor) and she joined in along with the bands as they passed marching down a small stretch of the curb. Abby chose to sit and just watch her. Anna enjoyed everything from mom's arms and only at the very end did she take a little snooze in the stroller. It was a great day and we hope that this will get many people to come to the Summer Jam on May 12th.

For those of you who are praying for Sam's band outreach, please cover that day in prayer. We have a feeling that the 612 seats at the KPAC will be filled and that there will be more people than seats. Please pray that there will not be any fights as the main audience will be teens and young adults. There will be people from all backgrounds and they will show up ready to ROCK....which means they will be pumped up and full of youthful energy..and folly. Please pray for that day
